Portraits on Stone Street
Recently, I made the move to move to New York from the San Francisco Bay Area to pursue photography in a more serious manner. The hardest part about moving across the country is that I'm missing all of the connections that I once had. I figured out a solution, though!
I found a piece of white painted wood and wrote "Free Headshot or Portrait" on it and walked around the streets of New York's financial district. I set up shop with my strobe light and patiently waited for people to come up and ask to get their portrait taken.
Within a few minutes, people started coming up! During the day, 7 people came by and asked for portraits. When I started out, I was terrified, but as people came up the nerves went away. I was able to meet new people, take great pictures, and even have a little fun!
